A story about Wang Wei Lin

Unfortunately I’ve learned that for this act of protest he was executed.

A story about Mark Kistler

Little did I know when I added him to my list just how close he was. Apparently he lives in my own town. He’s giving drawing instruction workshops this month. I have only to get the courage up to actually go and see him. Now, if I can only think of what I want to say to him when I do meet him.

A story about Brad Bird

According to the animators commentary on the special features to “The Incredibles” DVD Brad Bird often critiqued animation in the daily sessions in the character of Edna Mode, complete with voice and smakcing them around with a rolled-up newspaper. If I meet him I plan to tell him that I’m scared and hungry. (This is supposedly what he likes to hear from animators, it is supposed to be the right attitude for producing good work.) and that he is welcome to smack me around with a rolled-up newspaper until I become a better animator.

A story about Mark Kistler

Basically, Mark Kistler taught me to draw, and I have made a carrear out of art. His instruction in pencil drawing and perspective was the foundation of a skill I have enjoyed using all my life. His interviews with guests and people who are ordinarily behind the scenes in childrens shows opened up the possibilities of computer art and animation to me at an early age.

I am now a professional animator who has had the privilege of working on award-winning children’s educational videos.

I would like to meet him to thank him, to offer to be a guest on his show and expose the young viewers to my own carrear as a possibility, or even to work with him on a more long-term basis.

Why I admire Alex Grey

He is a great artist with a very unique style that I enjoy very much. Too many artists today try to get by with doing too little. I appreciate the effort he puts into his paintings.

A story about A Tribe to Belong With

Well, my description seems to have lost all line breaks, making it hard to read. Perhaps this experiment was just a bit too far outside the box.

Why I want to meet Neil Gaiman

Eh, should be interesting. I was way into Sandman comics for a while when I was younger, but then for a while I hated them. I’ve read over them again recently and decided that there was more going on in those stories than I was able to understand when I was younger, so I guess they’re back off the hated list and on the intrigued list.

Also I think its cool that he did the English translation of Princess Mononoke, a great animated movie from Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli.

Why I want to meet Steve Jobs

There are two things that make Steve Jobs someone I would like to meet. He owns the animation company that I consider to be the best in the world and would love to work with, and he was instrumental in bringing good computers, designed for artists to the market. It is his vision of the Macintosh that has shaped the computer interfaces of today.

His accomplishments are worthy of great respect.

Why I want to meet George Lucas

I would love to work on animation for his movie effects one day. I would like to work on animation for the kinds of children’s entertainment or educational shows that he likes to be involved in. And I could learn a lot about cinematography and storytelling from him.
